Eugene Woodworth
On October 15, 1915, the minutes of the Board of Control stated that Woodworth "had a finger amputated while assisting a citizen whose motor car broke down in front of the West Street Engine House, that he is off duty and that it is necessary his place should be filled. It is decided that Woodworth's pay be given him as usual, and Controller Halliday and the chief are authorized to make arrangements for the temporary filling of his position."
Woodworth was also one of the authors of a petition dated June 28, 1916, from the operators of the motor fire engine "Patricia" regarding off-duty hours:
To the Board of Control. Gentlemen:
As our request for the establishing of a relief system of one day in eight has not materialized, and is not likely to for some time, we the undersigned chauffeurs of Fire Department wish to make application requeating that we be allowed to have alternate Sundays off free and independent of the present rounds, also to have a few hours off on Friday and Saturday evenings respectively until such time when the day in eight system can be made effective. If this cannot be afforded, we hereby give notice of resignation from the Fire Department.
His resignation was reported on August 8, 1916, along with that of C. W. Wickwire, another driver of the fire engine Patricia. He was replaced by Claude Wells.
