The current Spryfield station, commissioned on October 7th, 1971, was the first station for the area under the newly annexed areas of Halifax County into the City of Halifax, taking effect as of January 1st, 1969. Prior to the opening of the new station Spryfield Fire Department was housed within a small single bay garage claiming the nickname "Fort Apache", then moving up to a two bay engine house on Dentith Rd know as "Treetop".
