Quinpool Rd.

Commissioned: 1884

Decommissioned: 1950

Associated company: Halifax Fire Department

1884 – Halifax continued to grow, spreading West towards the Northwest Arm. With this growth it was decided that a station be built on the South side of Quinpool near Preston. Numbered as station No7, (Later No5), and housing the hose reel “Perseverance”, this house proved invaluable in the ever-growing West End as call numbers increased. The addition of a steam engine and motorized hose car in later years made responding to the farther reaches of the peninsula even more effective. This house remained in service until 1950 when Oxford St was opened.
