William Joseph (Billy) Carter, 43, 19 Fredrick Street, died Monday at Halifax.
Born in Halifax, he was son of William and the late Mary Ann [Devious] Carter. A lieutenant with the Halifax Fire Department, he died in the line of duty while responding to an emergency call.
Billy Carter, a top-notch athlete in several sports, was one of the few native- born Nova Scotians to play in the highly rated H-D Baseball League in the early 1950s Besides his Wife, the former Audrey Dee and his father, he is survived by four brothers: Edward, Charles, both of Halifax; Joseph, Vancouver; John, Toronto, several nephews and nieces.
The body is at Snow’s Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. St. Lawrence Church, Fairview. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery.
